This is your beginning. Your blank canvas. Waiting for you, to make your mark. This is your time. It starts here at Greenwich, the home of time itself. Let us take you there. How do we measure time? By how much we’ve grown,
by what we’ve achieved or by who we’ve become?
The University of Greenwich. We’ve invested millions on three campuses, 1,200 programmes, and first class research, with one goal – to make your time here count. So, let us open your eyes, to one of the grandest university settings in the world.
Home to many magnificent buildings, like Christopher Wren’s painted gallery, where thousands of our students graduate each year. It’s seen the start of many success stories.
Our Greenwich Campus, with its spectacular Baroque architecture is a designated World Heritage Site – and a back drop for many major films: The Queen, Wolfman,The Golden Compass, Sherlock Holmes.
Our historic buildings are also home to modern facilities, state-of-the-art CISCO systems, a brand new TV studio, library and modern art gallery.
From the Royal Observatory you can see that the iconic sights of London are all within easy reach. And, with Canary Wharf directly opposite, it’s no wonder we have such strong links with the business world.
You’ll find Greenwich an exciting and vibrant place to live too. With a bustling market, a wide variety of bars and
restaurants, all the latest bands playing at the O2 Arena and many other venues across London. But it doesn’t
stop there.
Our Avery Hill Campus is a green oasis enjoying the best of both worlds. Eighty-six acres of beautiful parkland, and just a short bus ride from all that London has to offer.
Inside an elegant, Victorian mansion you’ll discover our library. A former ballroom, it’s now home to thousands
of books.
The 90 foot glass dome of the Winter Gardens stands dominant on the skyline. Across both sites at the Avery Hill Campus we’ve spent millions on new buildings and all the latest facilities. The new sports centre is now one of the best equipped in the UK. Our new teaching centre houses state-of-the-art laboratories and an interactive lecture theatre, making it a first class learning experience. Over 50 per cent of our residential students live at our Avery Hill site which creates a real buzz. So, whether you want to play tennis, rugby, or just meet friends for a night in the Dome. You’ll always find something exciting to do.
We follow the River Medway towards our Medway Campus. Past Rochester, the home of Dickens, with its impressive cathedral and imposing castle. On to the historic naval dockyard at Chatham. The university is housed in the spectacular former naval offices. Once inside you’re never too far from its maritime past.
A continual investment in complementary, modern architecture and new facilities shows that the university is also forward thinking. Take the Pilkington Building, which is a 21st century student centre providing teaching space and a cafe. And, what was once the Drill Hall is now the longest library in Europe. Complete with 2.7 miles of shelving and over 150,000 books, all sitting alongside the latest technology.
These investments have attracted international companies from around the globe and research projects as far reaching as NASA.
Much closer to home are the beaches of Broadstairs and Ramsgate and the rolling countryside of Kent. For you to
enjoy at your leisure.
Your future is ahead of you.
